About ITC Goudy Sans Book Italic
ITC Goudy Sans, one of the few sans serif designs created by American type designer Frederic Goudy, has a friendly, almost playful personality rarely found in sans serif designs. In 1929 Goudy was challenged by the Lanston Monotype Company to create something different from the norm. Drawing from Roman lapidary inscriptions, Goudy crafted a type design that was less formal than existing designs, with an italic that was cursive rather than the more common obliqued roman. Goudy's original three-weight family was modified by Compugraphic Corp., which released six designs. ITC, through a special license from Agfa, has updated and filled out the family. ITC Goudy Sans is available in book, medium, bold and black weights with corresponding italics. The book and medium weights also include small caps and oldstyle figures. |
